At age 18, a child in the United States is granted the autonomy to act and respond as an adult - the chance to take the reins and start building their own path in life. “Across America, there are approximately 18.3 million children who live without a father in the home, comprising about 1 in 4 US children.” There are also over “130,000 annual adoptions in the US alone”. Each passing year provides a new young generation the opportunity to reach out and connect with their roots, and the unknown parts of their stories, by connecting with their parents... all on their own terms.
Is a show with compassion, heart and family on traditional reality TV, with a new web component, designed to bring families together and shine a light on every dimension of their story. Not only will the show highlight the trials and tribulations of building a brand-new parent-child dynamic, and communication “difficulties” from parent to child, it will actually offer the resources to nurture and sustain these delicate relationships.

DNA18 is a show that will deliver on the drama and entertainment factors that are expected by our audience, but at its core it is most vitally grounded in heartfelt compassion, and a commitment to truthful storytelling that will compel even the most “reality-skeptical” viewer. This program will offer the unique perspective of a son or daughter in search of their father, not just observed by the camera but actively supported by the proper resources for an effective reunion: counseling services, private investigators, a strong personal support system, and any other resources tailored to that family’s specific needs.

Sometimes, we need a cheerleader, an ally, or just someone to give us another chance. Ultimately, we want our viewers to be moved; moved to joy, to sorrow, to elation, and hopefully even tears…but always moved to GENUINE emotion by GENUINE storytelling. We believe we can create the most intense drama, one that moves people to speak up and share their voice online, all without creating friction or manipulating emotions.

HOW IT WORKS
The Searching & Connecting Process
Our goal is to invite viewers to log onto the DNA 18 website and share their story. We will evaluate the potential storylines, as well as various complexities of each unique situation, in order to select our next participants. From there, we would dispatch a film crew to begin the recording process, as well as provide our participants with individual recording devices so they can record their personal experience, like a video journal.
We will employ the necessary investigative and discovery techniques to learn about the parties involved. Soon after, we will enlist a therapist to assist along the journey, increasing the likelihood of a successful reunion or connection while monitoring and revealing the emotional journey, revealing the most heartfelt intimate moments.
